Lies and harassment

My paycheck last week was not correct, I talked to my job and fixed it so my money would be in the bank the following thursday. I contacted Rent A Center located at 1180 W Columbia ave in battle creek michigan 49015 that same day and informed them. They told me it was ok and we agreed on a late charge followed by a new policy start date. On the 29th of september they started calling my references pestering them multiple time a day. Now I had just been paid a terribly low sum so my ability to pay my phone bill had to wait so I didn't know they were calling. Now here we are 5 days after my due date on Tuesday, my phone has been turned on and I am leaving my house to go pay them since my check came in. I open my mail box to discover a letter that is threatening legal action for a payment it claims is 15 days past due. How is that possible in a span of 5 days counting the due date? Furious I called them and they proceeded to blame me and say that my payment was due. They did acknowledge that the letter was sent too soon. I refused to pay them today and have decided to return their merchandise on my next day off. I am beyond aggravation and I am insulted that they would work with me to understand my situation then do this. Never again will I use Rent A Center, they deserve to be force closed by the government. Maybe I should contact a lawyer today with this letter in hand before its impact is lost.
