New Sales Line is horrible

So my boyfriend and I are moving and decided to check out our cable/satellite options. Of course DTV is a big option for football selections. Long story short, I cannot get any pricing, email confirmation, any sort of information or questions answered without providing my SSN and credit/debit card. Most of you had to have done that when you called to order service. Doesn't that seem wrong to you? They have a product or service to sell and should be answering any and all of our questions, without hassle. And I did finally break down to give SSN so I could get a little more info, but then got hung up on when I refused to provide my CC #. I ended up calling back and the same thing happened, only the 2nd guy hung up on me much quicker. What in the world kind of sales line is that??? Absolutely ridiculous and I don't care what kind of free NFL ticket they provide... You couldn't pay me to use their services now. And they could have made a huge amount of money on us and our 6 TVS!
