I have had 2 AO Smith water heaters fail in the past 8 years and charged labor on both and $600.00 due to the heater being out of warranty. I called AO Smith and spoke with a representative that explained these heaters need to be drained and serviced annually. There is nothing on the heater that explains this to the consumer therefore the heater fails in a few years costing the consumer labor to install a new one and a new heater if the warranty has expired.
