Miscellaneous

I received a call from a gentleman who said he was with the company connected with Windows XP. He acted like it was urgent I go to my computer and do what he said so he could fix it. They were calling all owners of XP to stop this malware. I wasn't comfortable about it, but he kept insisting I follow his instructions so I could see what he was talking about. I was to press the windows key and r and write in what he told me... Event and 4 letters, don't remember. Then he had me click on a couple of things and it showed security breaches. I kept asking him what it was going to cost me and he wouldn't say at first. Finally he said $130 and I said No Thanks and hung up. I talked to my son-in-law and he said my computer does not send messages to the company that something is wrong. He thought it was a hoax and that when I did what they told me I downloaded malware and they were there to fix it! During the conversation, when I told him I didn't think I should trust him, he told me the company was G-Tech, his name was Odie (He had an accent, so I am not sure) and the number I could him back on was 1-631-621-0001
