Gift Card Stolen, Receipt Codes Could Not Stop It

I bought an Amazon money card, ten minutes later, it had been stolen. I called them with all the info on my receipt to make sure they would deactivate the stolen card so the robber wouldn't win. They said receipt confirmation codes mean nothing, sorry, the bad guy wins!
