I called Amazon's 800 number to order a pair of Sketcher Go Walk shoes. During the conversation with the Amazon customer service clerk, I was told if I signed up for an Amazon visa charge card I would automatically get a $30 credit to my account. So I did. I asked them if the shoes arrived and were not right would return shipping be covered. They said yes.
When the shoes arrived they didn't fit properly so I called to return them to find out that they were sold to me by a third party vendor. I was never told that in the original conversation. I was told my amazon that I would have to deal with the third party vendor; so I called them (Tip Top Shoes in New York). They said they would not pay for the return shipping and I'd have to deal with Amazon.
I called Amazon back, talked to Alex and she assured me she would get my refund of shipping; that all I had to do was to save the postage receipt and send it to her via email, along with the tracking number.
The amount was $9.79. I received an email from amazon stating that they would only refund the postage in the form of a promotional code which I could only apply to my next purchase from amazon.
They also said that the $30 could only be applied to amazon purchases.
I was totally misled, as I was led to believe that this Visa card could be used as any other visa card, and not just used when ordering from amazon.
I am tired of dealing with their customer service clerks. I do not think consumers should be treated this way.
Please advise how you may be able to help.
