I had a Best Buy Card, opened in CT to buy new appliances. All was paid off in 8 mos even though I had 36 Mos to pay.

In May I bought some graduation gifts on said card, I changed my address and number on their computer for the purchases, in the last 3 months I have not rec'd one statement - but did not worry b/c salesmen told me I had 12 mos at 0% int. To pay it off as I could - THE ONLY reason I used the card.

Last night a very forceful man called to tell me that I had not made one payment so my int. Rate was now 37% and I owed $5000, on a $1000 purchase. Due now.

I told him I had never rec'd a statement at which he told me they were being sent to an old address from 18 mos ago to CT, we now live in VA. He also stated in would stay under CT rule b/c they allowed the highest default int rate.

Strangely enough when I purchased these items I changed my address to the VA address along w/my unpublished phone number - both of which he had.

He bullied me and demeaned me, threatened me and extorted me. He said I had to pay ALL of it in the next 60 days, which I cannot. I do not work d/t terminal disease process, my husband is the sole bread winner - we came here for a fresh start, but he took such a huge cut in pay we will never be oout of debt - now this happens.

I know it sound crazy but I only have 3 years left on my term life insurance and I hope I die soon so my family can get the money, that is how badly we need it.

The fact that this Capitol One company had my address and was unwilling to budge at all terrifies me, they knew the current address but chose to keep sending statements to CT where they can charge more in int.

We are in the middle of a foreclosure, I cannot work, we have exhausted all of our finances, savings, bonds, IRA's, and credit cards to continue to pay the mortgage on a house we have not lived in since 3/11.

We are so poor, strapped whatever I am in a state of constant fight or flight, the stress prior to this b/c some one killed my beloved 2 yr old Bouvier des Flanders last week has affected my health so critically I am not allowed to even drive now and fall as soon as I stand, pass out cold.

I need help. My husband says filing for bankruptcy is not the answer b/c we will still have to pay it all back and someone will give us an allowance to live on, so if an emergency arrises, we are done.

I do not know if this is an important place to write this or just a sounding board, but Lord God help and get us through this.
