Miscellaneous

I was phoned by an Asian sounding man who told me he was from microsoft, he told me that my office computer was at risk.
I informed him I was not at my office and was at home and diverted to my mobile, he then called me back on my home phone no
and proceeded to tell me that my lap top was also at risk and went through all this remote control stuff, then the ammy page came up
after he had showed me all these warnings. I said I had renewed with macafee in May and did not want to spend any more money.
He said well you are obviously not well protected and should buy better protection with his company. I was feeling uneasy about it and did not like his pushy attitude. I said I had no authority from our business to purchase any thing, he said I will ring you tomorrow, I said I really do not want to spend any money at this time and he hung up. I was really cross but just relieved not to have parted with any money.
The next day I had to get in touch with macafee when I had security alerts, saying macafee had expired, so not sure if they had done something to my computer. Macafee sorted it out for me, these scammers should not be able to do this as a lot of people must have been conned by this, there was a report about it on our local television program South Today. I genuinely believed he waas from microsoft at the start of the call and as I am not very pc minded went along with it to start with.
I am not out of pocket but I hope people who are will get their compensation and that these fraudsters can be stopped
