HI,
I had made a one time only payment over the phone with my Capital One Visa Credit card to U-Haul in Jacksonville, Florida Atlantic Blvd. This was for a friend of mine, I was assured and reassured by Dawn Lester, the manager of U-Haul over the phone this was only a one time payment of $400. I did not sign anything nor was my name on any contract or agreement, this was only one time over the phone as agreed. Since than, U-Haul has made three separate charges of $315.30 to my credit card totalling $945.90. I contacted U-Haul and they either hang up the phone or divert the calls to their switchboard call centre. They do not return any of my calls or give me an explanation of anything. I contacted my credit card company and was informed they could do nothing as I agreed over the phone to make a payment. They said my credit card was added to the contract. This is not true as my name is not on any contract like I stated, I was helping a friend for a time time only. The credit card company informed me that now U-Haul can charge me any amount $ anytime they wish and I could do nothing about it. I had to change my credit card number. I'm thinking of cancelling my account but I do feel I should be refunded the three unauthorised payments of $315.00 payments stolen from me by U-Haul.
Please help as I am a frustrated consumer who has spent hours on the phone and no one has helped me.
