My family and were planning a vacation to NYC from August 15th to the 19th. We had arleady managed to rent a place for the first days, but didn't have anywhere to stay for the weekend (17th to 19th). On August 14th, I saw a posting that Carlotta Vasoli had put on Craigslist for a 2-bedroom apartment rental in Soho (NYC) for $100 per night. I contacted her to the email she had provided on the posting: carlotta_vasoli@rocketmail.com

A few hours later, she sent me the booking agreement form for me to fill out and email back to her, which I did. She said she was going to send me the booking confirmation receipt upon reception of my payment ($200 for the rental plus $200 for a dammage refundable deposit, totaling $400) for our 2-night stay. That night, I tried making an online payment through Western Union to a Mr. Everick Simmons (as requested on the booking agreement form). The payment didn't go through. When I informed Carlotta of this failed attempt, she suggested I go to a Western Union Agency and make the payment out to Lynne Mayfield (Address: Cleveland, OHIO, 44124, USA.), which I did on August 15th.

Ever since that day (Aug. 15th), I never heard back from her again.

While in NYC, I checked out the building where the apartment was supposedly located (address: 210 Lafayette street, NYC, NY, 10012). The Concierge didn't know anyone by the name of Carlotta Vasoli. He was kind enough to give me the telephone number of the building's superintendant which I contacted the next day. Nobody answered, so I left him a message.

Earlier tonight browsed on the Craigslist website to see if Carlotta was still around and I saw that she continues to post that same apartment rental on Craigslist. The posting reads as follows: $100 / 2br - SUNNY, QUIET, BREEZY, CONVENIENT AND FANTASTIC VIEWS (SoHo)
