For the last 2 days a representative from online public yellowpages has been calling my company saying that I had an overdue invoice for online advertising. When I called to say I had never received an invoice or authorized this advertising they played a recording of one of my employees 'authorizing' this transaction. Fortunately I know this employee would never authorize this expenditure without my knowledge though the representative suggested that he would say this to 'cover himself'. I'm sure they call to 'verify' company information such as phone number address etc. And they then dub in different questions. Their threat of sending this to collections has fallen on deaf ears. They need prosecuting for causing stress and attempting to illegally show approval of an expense that any company and our compnay did not rightfully approve by asking questions until they hear an answer of "Yes" to any question they ask. We have trained our employees to never use the word yes when any of these companies call and to answer "NO" to each and every question. These types of companies will even use a cold call after hours to the answering service as approval to any of their services. Unethical, fraud and illegal, they need to be shut down and prosecuted.
