Miscellaneous

On Thursday, June 28th I received a phone call from someone representing the Online Public Yellowpages telling me that our company was in default for our advertising with them. I proceeded to tell them we had not authorized any advertising verbally over the phone and just like complaint 130486 it was my voice saying yes to questions I had never heard before. I too had been plaqued with numerous phone calls asking if I would update our business name, our address and our telephone number to guarantee that our "free" listing would continue with no obligations to anything further. Normally I would just say I was not interested and hang up the phone but this one day I figured the only way I was going to get them to quit calling me everyday was to answer their questions on our business. Never agreeing to any costs to be charged to our company.

Now I am being told that because of the verbal and recorded responses we are held liable for these charges. I again proceeded to tell them we have no intention of paying this extortion. After I hung up I received two faxes back to back of this erroneous invoice and then this morning in the mail was another long letter to us with additional copies of the same invoice indicating we are seriously past due and it is being sent to an outside credit bureau. Is there anyway we can stop this?
