Rapid-M Insula Corp. Posed as a "Mystery Shopper" business and sent a check to my account with instructions to deposit $350, and cash the rest to register with my online assignments. They said to wait until the $350 cleared (indicating the check was valid) before generating my assignments. I did so. This was on Friday.
On Saturday, my bank showed that $350 had cleared... Or so it appeared.
After, only after, generating the assignment (sending a money order through Western Union, and through Money Gram), did my bank account show that the check was a fraud. I'm still not sure how the check appeared "legit" to the bank one day, and not the next day.
I have tried to contact this company and have had no success. They have simply disappeared.
I have now filed a report with my bank, with local law enforcement, and with the FBI, and the CFF... But have been told that it is unlikely that I will ever get that money back.
I've also been told that since I fell for this scam, I will most likely be contacted by the same people with a follow-up scam, and that I am to report it immediately. Who knows? Maybe we can find them.
Be warned! They are not a "Mystery Shopper" organization or anything else they claim to be. Scam! Scam! Scam!
