The Bluffs Over Cumberland Apartments
Freeman Webb Property Management THROWING US OUT WITHOUT GIVING US A REASON

Miscellaneous

My wife and I moved to Clarksville, TN last August. We chose this apartment complex due to it overlooked the Cumberland River and looked nice. Plus, the rent amount wasn't that bad. However, we were told by Carl (Assistant Property Manager) and Amanda (Property Manager) that we could not look at the apartment before deciding if we wanted to take it because it was being renovated and freshly painted. However, the rental property office was very similar to what the apartment looked like. We decided to sign the lease. While signing the lease, we noticed a clause that stated if the courtesy patrol officer or police had to be called to your residence, you would be processed for eviction immediately within 3 business days.

When my wife and I finally moved into our new apartment, our first response was, "What renovation and fresh paint job?" The stove didn't work, the closet doors in my daughters room broke the first day, the A/C unit froze up because the filter hadn't been changed, etc. We called the rental office and told them of all the problems we were having. Their response was we'll get to it when we can. To this day, there are still some problems that have not been fixed.

A few months ago, we had some new neighbors move into the apartment upstairs from us. Within the first week, they had another couple come stay with them for longer than 7 days (not allowed per the rental agreement we all had to sign.) One night, I had to call the courtesy patrol officer and the police department because the upstairs neighbors were having a loud party after midnight and were throwing cigarette butts and alcohol bottles onto the ground in front of my patio.

Finally, about 1 AM, the party died down. The following Monday, I contacted the Rental Office and asked when the upstairs neighbors would be evicted, per the clause in the rental agreement we all signed. After repeated phone calls to the Property Manager and to the Corporate Office, the neighbors were served with eviction papers 3 months after the incident.

About 2 months ago, we found out that Amanda, the Property Manager, had been fired and a new Property Manager had been hired for our complex. My wife and I were excited to have someone new, as we felt that the previous Property Manager had done a very bad job here.

Now, my wife and I have been informed by the new Property Manager (Samantha) that they will not let us renew our yearly lease. When we asked why, she stated that there was a note in the computer from Amanda, the previous property manager and that's what she was basing her decision on. However, she will not tell us what the note said. We have tried calling the Corp Office and leaving messages, but have not heard anything back.

My wife and I, along with our 5-year old daughter, now have to spend $2000 that we don't have to find a new place to live and be out by August 26. My wife and I have never been late with our rental payment and have never caused any trouble. However, it seems to me that this company wants troublemaking tenants instead of hard-working, family types. If you have a choice of staying here or in a cheap hotel, TAKE THE CHEAP HOTEL. You'll be better off in the long run.
