Kim Copeland, ESQ Deceptive Contract of Adhesion, Lack of Due Diligence, Lack of Communication

I obtained an attorney for a civil suit that I initiated on or about Sept. 2011. When the Judge named Anthony Harrelson failed to give me a fair hearing by representing his golf buddy Keith Morris who represent the party against me who was a recently deported Mexican Jessie Castillo from my investigations and refused to give me judicial notice on my petition and motion to the court.

I hired Ms. Kimberly Copeland. One of the reasons I hired Ms. Copeland was because she was African-American and I was faced with a very bigoted judicial system in Appling County, Georgia and I knew of these attorney's history of services to the Black Community in Appling County.

I believe I had my first paid consultation with Att'y Copeland for $45.00 cash. I sat with her about 45 minutes explaining my case, which was a simple breach of contract and theft by deception case against two deceptive men. I had up until this point handled the case pro se, but the judge did not act ethical and violated rules out of the Judicial Book of Canons, and ignored court procedures along with Supreme Court citing I presented in my petition (s).

Ms. Copeland gave me a retainer price of $7000.00 to start, and she would contact the attorney Keith Morris in Baxley, GA to let him know I had legal representation for any further proceedings. This never happened! I came in the following few day's with a down payment of $3000.00 cash. Ms. Copeland nor her office manager were present that day and a older woman took the money from me and sent out a young woman to give me a receipt. I was told to wait because I had to sign a receipt/contract. I was given a one page document with no more than five sentences on it to sign and a approximately 3x6 cash receipt form. This was before my next court date.

I returned approximately a week or two later to pay another $4000.00 and I was told I had to pay for a filing fee for a petition the lawyer wrote. At this point the attorney still had not contacted the court or the opposing party's attorney. I was at home the day after my birthday on 12/06, when a deputy named Kenny Wright demanded I take a document showing I had a court date on 12/05, but it had not been served to me perfect. I called Kim Copeland about it, and emailed her that my case ended in default for me, and I was robbed out of $30,000.00.in her email she simply stated that "we out of sink." She must have been talking about her interoffice communications, because I am not an attorney.

After several email from 12/25 - 12/29, and a email promise from Ms. Copeland that she would "schedule depositions early..." I have heard nothing from her office until June 27 or 28, whereas her staff member Lauren stated that the attorney would call me at 4 PM on Friday June 29th. Of course she never called me. Then I received another call on or about July 2nd that the attorney would call me on 07/03. Of course she never called.

I tried to contact the attorney by email, return receipt/certified mail and phone. I was told on a few occasions that the attorney was out of the country.

The problem is this attorney failed to explain, and disclose the whole so-called contract to me. She did not act with due diligence causing me to lose my civil case and money invested in it, never disclosed to the court or opposing attorney she was my legal representation, would not communicate with me for over five months and refused to return the balance of my retainer around $5-6k, and a detailed bill of her services. The attorney has violated ethical rules according to her state bar, but I know going to them will result in a conflict of interest in her favor.

Beware of this deceptive attorney and her office staff.
