Merry Maids
Prohibitively Expensive!

I haven't called Merry Maids in almost 1 year because of the way they charge you. Before you can sign up for monthly service, they have to come over and do a "deep clean". They stay until the job is done, but for a 4 bedroom house, the price is nearly $400. Then the rate drops to $150 a month since the cleaning people have tackled the major grime and filth that supposedly can't be cleaned up in a normal service call. My house is fairly clean already. I had them come. 2 pleasant ladies worked hard with simple cleaning supplies that weren't, frankly, any more impressive than the ones I use myself. They broke a tile and my closet door; the tile was sent to the Merry Maids Co. For repair and mailed back about 6 weeks later. I canceled the next $150 visit because my world wasn't exactly rocked by the 8 hour cleaning job they did for more than most people's monthly car payment. To tell the truth, I blame their sales rep who sold me the package. He threw me off guard by arriving an hour earlier than the set appointment. I should have rejected the careless rate he threw out, after barely looking at my house, on the spot.in retrospect he was rude. Still, if Merry Maids could come down 50% on their rates, I'd have them back because my busy routine makes housework impossible at times, and the one good thing about them is that they do return calls and make scheduling easy. I had called a few places before them that had lousy customer service.in the end, I learned this: just clean your own house!
