I'm not going to lie, I stole from Shoppers Drug Mart downtown Toronto. I was caught by undercover security, she then took down my life story asking me questions as detailed as how many siblings I have. Regardless, she then made me sign a letter I had no idea about, (may I mention I am 15 years of age, and should not sign anything without parental supervision). The letter has stated that I could receive a letter in the mail saying I had to pay $500 dollars or under for all the damages. I asked her if I was going to get charged and she said no, but I should sign it anyways. A police officer showed up AFTER she asked me to sign this piece of paper, he also did not ask me any questions, just what my mom did for a living, and how old I was. The item I had stole was $8.99, why would I have to pay $500? So I did. I went off with a warning, and that was that. 3 days later, I received a letter in the mail stating that I had until June 17th to pay the amount, if not I will possibly have to appear in court, and pay $900.
The letter is coming from Don Mills, it says to send the amount of money to Streetsville, Missisauga, L5M9Z9 P. O box 193. If you go on google maps, and put in the postal code, it is a house. Also, they give their number out, I tried calling more than 4 times and they never answer. There's always a woman saying she's either on the phone or away from the desk. I left my name and number, and asked them to call me back regarding how I should pay, and I never got a call back.
Do not pay this scammer, he is trying to make easy money.
If you were to get fined, you would receive a letter in the mail from the CROWN JUDGE, stating you need to appear in court on a certain date, time, and place.
This man works for the big companies, mostly the Husdson Bay Company, H&M, Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.
This letter however, did not state any time and place in court. It just stated the fine, I should have to go to court first, THEN the judge would tell me if I pay, how much, and so on.
Like i said, please do not pay this man. I received this letter in may, it is now july and i have not received any more letters from this man. It is a scam.
