Door Tag Left for Unknown Package With No Tracking Number

Fed-ex came to allegedly deliver a package to my home in Lancaster, PA, while I was in N.Y. They left a door tag saying they made a first attempt to deliver a package. An "attempt" means an unsuccessful delivery.

After numerous calls to Fed-ex, I was told I received a package. I was also told by another incompetent employee that they "don't" have a tracking number and to check with the sender. I was not expecting a package. With over 6,800,000 people in the world, where am I supposed to start? Fed-ex sucks! They never resolved this issue.
