In July we bought a Sony XBR 52" LCD TV for $2500. For the past month, we have been noticing fine lines which started getting deeper and now we are seeing darker shades also when the television is put on. This goes away once the TV is warmed up. We called the Sony authorised service company and the technician who came told us that the LCD panel needs repair and which would come around $3,500. The technician suggested instead of going in for the repair we call the Sony Service center and get a "refurbished" TV which comes around to $700. This is an insult, and is outrageous. The TV should last way longer than 2 years and 9 months. From online reviews, we gather, these "refurbished" TV's don't last for more than a year!!! First we pay $2,500 on a brand new TV and not even 3 years later, we are told to pay another $3,500 to replace their defective LCD panel! This is definitely not right and we really hope that you will do something.
