Got an unsolicited text message for "BRAIN COOL" which billed itself as $9.99/month for 3msg/wk.

"Welcome to Brain Cool! For HELP call 18888906150 $9.99/mo for 3msg/wk. Reply HELP for help Reply STOP to cancel Msg&Data Rates May Aply."

I replied with the word 'STOP' as directed by the message, because I didn't want to hear anything from these people again, and I certainly didn't want to pay $9.99 a month for the privilege of them spamming me.

A few weeks later my Sprint Bill had an extra $9.99 attached to it. I got a chat going with a rep online, and asked him (as kindly as I could manage) to turn those alerts off in the future, and take the charge off my bill.

Types of Mobile Alerts:
Standard SMS text messages.
SMS text messages with a Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) page link.
Data plan or Pay-As-You-Go data rates apply when clicking the link.
Multimedia messaging alerts.
Ben L.: And these kind of Alerts are activated by confirming form your phone and pressing numbers for confirmation.
You: That's nice. I don't want them. I never confirmed it, unless my sending them the word "STOP" was considered confirmation
You: at any rate, I am hoping you can get those alerts turned off, and taken off my bill

Ben L.: I will block it for you so that the charges will not incur in future.

Ben L.: Please allow me a few moments to block it.
Ben L.: I am sorry for the delay
