We responded to a phone offer to come quote on refurbishing our kitchen. The salesman arrived exactly on time, gave a very professional presentation and had all the right answers etc etc. He gave us a hugely discounted quote for $19,800.00 for everything our hearts desired.
We signed the contract and wrote a good faith check for $1000.00. Next payment was for $7000 at start of work (supposedly this morning - no-one has showed up yet) another $7000 in mid schedule etc.
Having some doubts a little later I looked up address (google earth) he gave us on his card for his supposed fully equipped warehouse and found a picture of a tiny house on a small lot. Also only location I found with this company name is in Carolina (We live in San Jose, California).
I phoned the bank as soon as they opened before the check was cashed.
