Same essential history as previous complaint: phonecall announcing "we've noticed you've been having computer problems, " which I had indeed been having for the week prior to the phonecall. The problem was a gradual slowdown, then a complete "freeze" of my aol email system, with some slighter slowing down, and scrambling of Google. Then same thing as previous complaint: I was switched over to slightly clearer-speaking Indian-sounding "supervisor" — all personnelwith Anglo-Irish sounding names — then typing in some commands through the windows key & watching as my screen was manipulated, etc. My problem, too, was fixed, but it was a problem which i felt they had somehow inserted into my computer to begin with. I declined their service subscription and the person abruptly hung up. Computer worked fine for next 3 weeks. I wondered when the problem would start up again, as I doubted that winsollutions would just let the matter lay. The email problem started up again during the week of March 12, again gradually at first, then a complete freeze. On March 20, the same kind of phone call from a similarly accented voice announcing that my computer problem had come to their attention. My husband picked up the phone for that call but hung up. I have spent the last several days trying to get the problem fixed with my technical advisor, to no avail. I am now thinking that the scam began at time of purchase, exactly a year before (Feb. 2011) and has something to do with Best Buy and/or Geek Squad employees... Will post again.
