They sent an email requesting payment for a domain name I own, but register elsewhere.

They claim I have signed up for a service, which is incorrect.

They emailed the address which appears in the Whois record, which is only used for that purpose.

The timing of the email also could make it look as if the payment is for the registration of the domain, and is timed to coincide.
