I was on Craig's List and found a rental that looked great. I called the number and was put in a "call order." I was the 5th caller. The guy (Gregory) told me that due to the economy, they have a listing of these houses that are rent to own. They tell you there is no credit check, as long as you can prove twice the rent each month in your bank. They say you can rent for 6 months - 2 years and that after you can use what you paid to purchase the home... BUT you have to become a member for what was a deal of $175 per month. This was a discount off the usual rate of course. It just so happens that the street they said it was on was not far from where I currently live AND it is a VERY short street. So I drove the street and based on the photos of the interior of the house, there is NO WAY that house was on that street. I called Gregory back to tell him this and got a voicemail. He just called me back and I told him I had driven the street and it's just not possible that house is on that street. He got off the phone faster than you could say Jack Robinson. If this was legit, he would have said something more than "Ok thank you" and hung up. It convinced me this is a scam and I am SO glad I didn't part with my $175. Clearly this is a rip off.
