Bayway Lincoln Mercury
Defective Tailgate/Paint Defect

Miscellaneous

I purchased my 2005 Mercury Mountaineer in 2006 after one year I noticed my tailgate splitting around the Mercury Insignia on both sides. I took my vehicle back too them and they told me it was a factory problem and I should write them. I wrote them and they advised me they couldn't help me. I also notice they had a recall on all Ford vehicles from 2001 to 2005 for defects with the paint jobs on these vehicles which my vehicle hood is peeling at this time also. I went to several Ford places to have my vehicle serviced and was told it was a factory problem and even if they repaired the rear tailgate the splitting would return because Ford made the back rear window to heavy to maintain the weight around the area and that it would return. This is not satisfactory and not responsible of Ford to sell a product to consumers and don't stand for their product this way. I've read numerious complaints on other people having this same problem and was referred to you guy's for help. I'm a retired Sheriff Deputy I took a oath to serve and protect my community it is outrageous to hear Ford give the kind of response to customers like this. They need to repair my vehicle and the other guy's who are having this same problem and believe me that tailgate problem they know about. Your attention in this matter will be appreciated.
