Deli Soy Sauce

I went to deli, ordered sesame chicken and fried rice plate. Staff was very friendly. I asked for some small packets of soy sauce and I was told by the woman in the deli that I could find some soy sauce by the condiment section or I could get some at the sushi station right next to the deli. I asked the woman at the sushi counter if I could get some soy sauce packets and her reply was "If you dont buy my product from my counter you don't get any." Then she said we are not the same. They are HEB and we're not. I thought it came across a bit rude. I would have been more than happy to pay for the packets, but I was never given the opportunity.
