Miscellaneous

I received a letter similar to the one that others have reported. Dated April 4 of this year, the letter from Financial Gaming Services on Rosemont Road in Montreal told me I was "the beneficiary of an unclaimed settlement for the amount of $80,000." The letter said that American law stipulates that I must pay a processing fee before my funds are released but that the same law also "prevents" me "from paying the fees" out of my personal income. I know, hard to believe.
This same letter arrived with a check for over $ that I cannot cash before I speak to an agent and if I try to cash it before talking to the agent, the check will be voided. The letter claims this step is a "security procedure to protect our customers identity." I must speak to an agent before April 27, after which any "unclaimed funds shall be forfeited".
Fairly certain it is a scam, I have not tried to cash the check.By the way, the letter is stamped with a bar code.
