I had tax issues and concerns, current year and back taxes. I contacted Tax Masters, and was assured I would end up with a tax bill that I could easily manage. They wanted the money up front, and then proceeded to bill me an extra $750 (paid them $3100). No apology, nothing. I was also assured that this fee covered all my work with them to resolve my federal and state tax issues. Sometime later, I called to find out what progress was being made at the state level, and a few days later, received a modification letter asking for more money to handle my state issue. Today I got a "report" with possible options, and a summary sheet detailing additional $ I need to pay if I want them to advocate or work with the IRS on my behalf. I'm wondering what on earth the $3100 I paid was for (in addition, they prepared my taxes, and took no deductions for me... Even though I supplied detailed information). During all of my conversations, they implied - heavily, if not always explicitly - that I would be a shoo-in for uncollectible status. Suddenly, in today's report, that was not even an option. So, I've paid $3100 for basically nothing. Absolutely nothing.
