Target's Replacement Plan

Miscellaneous

I purchased a sony DVP-FX750 portable video player for the sale price of $59.00. At the time, the sales person asked me if I wanted to purchase a two-year plan replacement plan (should anything go bad, a battery, it won't work, etc) for $7... I did.

Just yesterday the DVD Player stopped working and went back to the store and the sales associate told me to call the Target replacement plan phone number — which I did. I was told by the person that she'd send me a pre-paid sticker to mail the DVD back. I said great... And would then expect to get it repaired or replaced shortly thereafter? She said no... The replacement plan only covers a refund of the purchase price — the $59. I told her that I didn't want a refund, but a replacement of the broken machine — which was what I was led to believe at the time I bought it. The 2-Year Replacement Plan "package" the sales person shows its customers has written on it "Convenient Product Replacement for Items Under $200." In reality that is not what happens at all. I would consider your plan the misleading at best is a reflection of poor customer service.

Here's how it stands? I'm expected to take my $59 and pay an additional $50.99 so that I can buy a new player (the original cost of this DVD not on sale)?
