Portfolio Recovery
Company refuses to send proof of original bill

Miscellaneous

These calls started around a year ago, I have asked repeatedly for the company to send me a bill from the original debtor because the original company went out of business more than 10 years ago, along with their financing charges so I can validate the debt. They have neglected to do so more than 6 times. The last person who called me from their company stated they had received a payment on the bill for 20.00 in But they do not have a valid or correct address for me that is less than 10 years old. (Liars) They have my current phone #, but claim they do not have my current address-another lie to cover for not sending the requested information. So words to give for others who may be having this issue - Do not admit to the bill-even if you know it is valid, especially if it is more than 7 years old. Admitting to a bill, regardless of it's age restarts the whole 7 year collecting period. To make the company stop calling all you have to do is write them a letter, (Cease and Desist all calls to me) send it through the post office and have it time stamped when it is delivered. Do not send it to be signed for, the company can claim they never got it or a worker never turned it over, or is no longer with them. If you have had it put back onto your credit record - write them a letter and tell (all 3 collection agencies) you dispute the bill, it will be removed, and report the company who refiled it if it is older that the statute of limitations and you can't or they won't verify it is legitimate for you by sending you proof of the bill. If you pay a bill through the collection agency, before you send them 1 cent, get it in writing that they are not to sell the bill after a payment has been made and that it is for a set amount that cannot be changed so long as you are making regular payments, and make sure they will remove it from your record after it is paid. Keep track of the time, date and name of every person you talk to regarding the bill and any arrangements made with the company on paper.
