I made a reservation with United Airlines for 7/12 to fly from NJ to TPA. While making the reservation, I was offered a travel protection plan for $ 14.25 by Access America, in case I needed to cancel my flight. I paid the extra amount for the same purpose.incidently, I had to change my plans suddenly due to an interview call. I ended up cancelling this flight. Later I applied to Access America for reimbursement but they denied my claim stating the reason as "unemployed" and pointing out that their terms and conditions were that the person had to be employed for a minimum of one year in order to be eligible for the claim. I appealed again that under the present circumstances in the present economic times, it was a harsh decision and requested the concerned authorities to reconsider their decision. However, they refused to reconsider and denied my claim again based on the same condition that I had been unemployed for the past few months. This company is trying to make money by participating with United Airlines and luring customers to buy their insurance plan for an extra cost. The terms and conditions, as with any other company, are given in fine print, and may easily escape the reader's eye.
