Refused My Store Credit

I went into day to buy y brother a stroller with the $50.00 I had left on my store credit. The owner Beth informed me that by store credit was to old and she would no longer honor it. She said she called all her customers last year to tell them that the credit would expire in October. I never got a call even though she had in a log book that she called me. She had the wrong phone number for me. I would think it would be illegal to take merchandise, sell it for a profit and then not let me use the credit we had contracted for when she took my baby clothes to sell in her store. There was also no experation date on the store credit. This feels like she misrepresented herself and robbed me of $50.00.
