Kay Promised me a full refund, w/in 2-3 weeks... Did not happen

Miscellaneous

Several weeks ago a young man came door-to-door selling magazine subscriptions for points to help him advance in his career. I explained that I simply was not able to buy from him due to my economic situation. He then told me that if I gave him a check it would not be processed without someone calling to verify. Believing him, having contributed in past years and knowing that verification was done before, I gave him the check, written out to Ultimate Unity.

When I saw that they had processed my check, which caused my account to overdraw outrageously, I called Ultimate Unity and spoke to a woman named Kay. She told me that they were simply a processing center but as I told her, it did not matter to me as the check was made out to her company, Ultimate Unity. She told me if I faxed or emailed her a facsimilie of the check they would refund my $295, and it would take 2-3 weeks to receive.

It has now been almost a month and I tried to contact Kay, at Ultimate Unity, today. The website, http://www.uunity.Biz, no longer is in service, and the email address (which worked the day I spoke to Kay) - customercare@uunity.Biz now gives a delivery failure. I then tried calling the Customer Service number, 219-809-5732, and get a message stating that business hours begin at 7:30 CST and that if you are hearing the message they are on another call. It was 10:30am EST when I called and there was no option to leave a message or request a callback.

While I might have been naive to believe the young man I still feel I should receive my full refund for the fraud perpetrated, and due to the fact that Kay expressly told me it would be forthcoming.

Due to this experience, I guarantee you, even if the solicitation is honest, I will not be letting anyone who knocks on my door get more than a firm and definite: No.

Beware of those who prey on the naive, they have no conscience.
