Ultimate Unity Claims to be a charity Internet

Over the weekend, a nice man came to my door claiming to be from a charity called Ultimate Unity which helps Urban Youths get off the streets and gives them another chance. He told me he himself was a former convict and works for this charity. He said it gave him something positive in life and a second chance.

It was a hot day (over 100 degrees!) and I was impressed that someone would still be out in this heat and I heard him out. He asked me questions like, "If you could talk to our troubled urban youth, what words of encouragement would you give them?" He also asked me if I believed in "giving someone a second chance?"

Without the sales pitch, I likely would have given to the charity as I usually do. When he pulled out the magazines subscriptions, I honestly had no interest in them. I asked about a Little Einstein book for toddlers and he told me it was $65! So I told him I had no interest in the magazines or books and he said I could just make a donation offering to Ultimate Unity which is what I ended up doing.

After our conversation I came to the internet and found out that Ultimate Unity is a magazine clearinghouse! Regardless if they partner with charities or not, that is not how the sales person represented himself to me. I immediately stopped payment on my check. I didn't see any recent updates about this company and wanted to be able provide updated information.
