A Damaged Graduation Gift

Hello I am Ms. M-t. I reside in Windsor, CT. I am a US Citizen born and raised in CT. My daughter was given a few pair of shoes from Pretty Woman of West Hartford as graduation gifts on June 16th. She wore one pair when we went away to New York June 24th. At the end of the tour the bottom of her flat shoes began to lift. When she went to the bathroom, the whole sole came off! I explained to her aunt and asked her where did she get the shoes from? She said; "Look on the cover of the shoe box for the receipt." I said; "Oh great, I will just go there and get another pair, no problem." I was so sure that they would replace me with another pair that I told my daughter to begin looking for another color in her size.

I went to the counter and explained this situation to the store Manager. She said no exchanges after 14 days. I said; "This is not an exchange? The shoe is damaged! Can I get another pair? She said; "No" I then asked to speak to the store owner, Kevin. He was very cold, non-caring and quite a bit arrogant! He was very unprofessional as I asked if he would honor his merchandise and replace anything damaged? He said; "Not my problem! I cannot help you!" He then said; "It looks like you wore them a lot!" I explained that my daughter was given the shoes at her graduation and just wore them this past Friday, June 24th. The sole just came off? He said: No exchange! The shoes were purchased in April, that's too long! No exchange! You wore them!

I called her aunt and asked him to speak with her. He refused. I put her on speaker to explain to him that they were never worn and they had to be in this condition before she purchased them. He would not listen to her. I was so shocked? I looked at him and said: "You really just don't care do you?" His look became cold as death. I put the shoes back in the box and my daughter and I just left. I am not used to being treated this way. Maybe this is why I never shop at small merchant stores? I feel so bad for my daughter and her Auntie. What do I do? Just let this go and get some Gorilla glue?
