Tracker? I Would Say Cracker!

I bought a 2005 Tracker Targa 17 in 2007. Thought it was a good boat until fall of 2010 when I started taking on water for no reason. Spring I take my boat in to get its yearly service and find out that my boat is split from front to back along the keel, and in a couple other places too. My service center informed me that this is not uncommon with Tracker boats because the aluminum they use is too thin and the overall design is faulty.

I contact Tracker, they tell me to take it to an authorized Tracker dealer. I go to Bass Pro, they take photos and examine the boat and report to Tracker in Missouri. Now all I get is some * about the warranty being expired and that there was an impact that caused the cracks in the hull. There was no impact to the hull whatsoever. One section of the crack is 14 feet long but no dent in the hull. Explain that one.

Now I get ignored by Trackers so called customer service which doesn't answer the phone or return calls. Hell, you can't even leave a message or send them an email. This is not an isolated incident either, there are many similar complaints about the same type of problems all over the web and the same results. Phone tag, legal action from insurance companies, and just plain bad customer service and not standing behind their sub standard products which they claim to be such a great value. My quest for justice is just getting started and has been going on since the beginning of May. I am a union worker and the bottom line here is that Tracker Marine gives American made products a bad name. Even if they fix my boat, I will be getting rid of it. I will never buy anything from Tracker Marine again and I will see to it that I inform everyone I meet to save their hard earned money and buy elsewhere. Hopefully from a reliable company who backs up their products and honors their warranties.
