Miscellaneous

This couple posted an ad on Craigslist for an apartment rental listing. I was heading to New York and needed a place to stay. Everything looked legit online. They had pictures up, said the right things that made it convincing, and even had a processing form that looked legit. Of course, I fell for it and did a wire transfer to their bank account for the deposit on the apartment. Once I got there, the owner did not show up, and the number they left for contact was disconnected. I emailed these people demanding a refund back, but all they emailed me back was to ask for my account info so they could refund my money. Of course I wanted to try and get my money back so I made sure my account was empty first before sending my information to them. I thought, if anything, I could always close out my account if it was all a scam. And of course, the money was never sent back yet, and I continue emailing their email address to try and get my money back. I feel so sad that this happened to me, but I guess it's a lesson learned and I won't ever buy from craigslist again.
