My son purchased an Acer Aspire 77412 series notebook computer at Walmart in March. I traveled to Washington state on May 11 to visit my son and his wife. I opened my computer to check my email and there were lines all over the screen and noticed what appeared to be a crack on the inside of the screen leaving the computer unusable without an external monitor. I called Acer America technical support and was told that I would need to send in the computer, at my cost, to be repaired and if they found the problem to have been caused by me then they would not repair it under the warranty.

I have not done anything to have caused this. This computer has been carefully cared for and not been kicked, dropped, sat on or left just laying around. According to the website www.acer.com the Aspire series are durable. This to me says that I can count on this computer lasting several years and that I can feel comfortable carrying it with me if I travel or just moving it around in the house since it is suppose to be portable. All I ask of the company is that they provide me with a working product and not some expensive paperweight!
