Huge Ripoff, don't give them any money

My mom was approached by two guys in their older 20's who said they played select soccer. They were selling books and magazines that would be shipped overseas to the military. This was supposed to help them go to a soccer tournament in Sydney, Australia. Well, after they left with a $20 check, I got online and suddenly this website popped up on my google search and it's all a scam.
They have a van that they drop people off in neighborhoods with. The one by my house was an older E250 or E350 Ford. I saw it drive by later, but the two guys appeared to be on foot. One of them said he was in the military, and they were both built like they could be. However, I wondered why he was here in civilian clothing as a soccer player if he was in the marines like he said he was. They both knew street names around, and said they lived with their mom in the next neighborhood.
Beware of this. Once they see a cop car though, they haul out of there. Once the cops showed up around my street, the van just flat out disappeared. I don't know how they got out of there so fast, but they did.
