I was an AHS customer for years without any complaints. Last year I was shopping for a cheaper insurance and found Colonial Home Warranty. I had 2 claims so far. The first was for my wall AC unit in my sunroom - which was not included (according to their claims dept.). The second claim was for my built-in microwave - the repair man came out and decided that it had to be replaced. After waiting a couple of weeks I received an e-mail asking me to sign a buy out for $ 100.00. I called their customer service dept and was told that I accepted the buy out after I was told that I did not have a built-in microwave and therefore the claim was not covered (nobody ever called me!). I went to Sears and asked to see their built-in microwaves and was told that those are just countertop microwaves with a built-in kit (exactly what I have), I talked to my builder and they told me the same thing. I sent several e-mails to Colonial - never received an answer, to contact them by phone is almost impossible - if you want to buy a policy they are available 24/7 and you'll receive a phone call within minutes - customer service for claims is just non existing. I will be an AHS customer again comes renewal time - can't wait!!!
