Camera Other Items not Returned to me!

I went and picked up items I had pawned at Belles.in order to to do so, I gave them my receipts for all items they loaned me money on. Belles husband brought my things over to me in the various bags i had brought them in, stating what was in each bag. I thanked him and went on my way. The next day or so, I noticed I didn't have my digital camera. I called Belle and told her this. She told me I was given everything. I then went down to the store and her husband told me I got everything, and they don't have my camera! I asked him to check the computer for maybe it was under some other heading. He said it was almost closing time. He then asked me for my receipt. I told him I gave him all my receipts when I got my items. He said there's nothing he can do without a receipt. I went off on him and told him that my mom had just passed away and there were many pictures of her on that camera! He told me sorry and to leave. I left and called the police. There wasnt anything that could be done. It was their word against mine, and I didn't have my flippin receipt! I messed up in many ways here. I didn't look and verify every item as they were being returned to me, I shouldn't have pawned a camera with pictures on it, they were irreplaceable. I should have made a copy of my receipts. That way I would have had proof that they had my camera, they said that they never had my camera at all! The Biggest mistake of all was going to - Belles Pawn, Jewelry & 2nd hand, in Lafayette Oregon.
