Guessology Premium Messaging Services
Deceptive / Misleading Marketing

Miscellaneous

I was given a survey when logging into facebook today. I was first led to believe by the design of the survey that it was being given by Facebook, and not a 3rd party company. I wasn't given an immediate and obvious way to close the survey window. I was then shown prizes (MacBook Pro, iPhone 4, iPad 2) that were available. After being asked to validate my cell phone number, I was sent a 4 digit pin to enter in order to validate my phone number. Only at that point, by reading some EXTREMELY small print, was I able to determine that they were intending to charge me for a monthly service. From the contents of the text message, I am not sure whether or not they do intend to charge me for said service or not. I was led to believe that I was simply verifying my info in order to enter a drawing for a prize.
