Ok so my girlfriend gets hire at Mel Yoders Home Improvement as a Administrative Assistant. First off she is more than qualified for the position, she has her Associates Degree in Accounting and 2 years experience to top that. When she firsts starts here they automatically started to treat her different than the other employees mainly because she was not a member of the yoders family. This is a family owned business. If she was a few minutes late they would hassle her and give her warnings about it. Now being as this is a small family owned business they don't give health insurance to their employees. One night she has to get hospitalized for an issue i cannot say right now but the hospital kept her there almost a week and when she returns they make her sign a written warning and a contract saying that she read the handbook.

Keep in mind that she had a doctors note for the time in the hospital. Also they put her on probation that day as well. Now any other employee that was a member of the family wouldn't even get questioned about this situation but for some reason they just don't like her. So about a month later she is legitimately sick for 2 days and in the handbook it states that if an employee is sick for more than 2 days then they need a doctors note to be excused. She goes back to work monday and go figure she gets pulled in the office to be fired. Now on the first day she started to get sick she came into work and requested to be sent home after a few hours. This place is immoral and corrupt and i personally wouldn't want to do business with a place that treats their employees this way. My girlfriend did nothing wrong but yet just because her last name was not yoder she got held to a double standard.
