Miscellaneous

I met this guy while doing a wine tasting at his business. When he found out I did wine tastings as a business, he asked if I would work his tasting room while he went to a seminar.

Being the nice person that I am:) I told him I would help him out. I drove over 70 miles to do a 1 hour training with him and then arrived 2 hours earlier than the tasting room opened on the day I was to work so he wouldn't have to leave all his wine and money out without being supervised.

Our verbal agreement was I would work the tasting room from 8am til 6pm for an hourly wage as well as some wine. Payment would be at the end of each day. When he arrived back at the tasting room, not even a hello or thanks so much, he went straight for the cash register where he began counting the money in the draw. I told him no customers all day and the draw hadn't been touched.

It was at this time, I asked for my wages for the day and he told me we could settle up the following day. I told him no, he promised payment today. I did my part, now he needed to do his part. It was at this point, he asked me to leave his property, that I was trespassing!

I then called the cops to place a report of a deadbeat employer who wasn't going to pay. When the cop told him it was illegal to pay me cash "under the table" he changed his story and said he wasn't going to pay me cash but pay me in wine! His shi*y wine wasn't worth my 10 hour day! He refused to even pay me in wine after that... So now taking him to small claims court. Not for the money but the principle... I worked the whole day even though my friends told me to just lock everything up and leave, that wasn't my agreement with him and my word is very important to me. Obviously, his word is shit. Just like his wine... Karma is a bitch and comes back 3 fold... Poor guy, he had no idea who he was messing with!
