NY Promotional Events
NYPE, New York Promotional Events scam, shady business practices

Miscellaneous

NYPE, or NY Promotional events is constantly recruiting people to work for their company. That should be your first red flag. You can find them all over Craigslist, Career Builder, and Monster. This is a miserable excuse for a marketing company, and the people they 'employ' are nothing more than suckers, while the 'bosses' are scam artists.

When you go in for your first interview, you will sit with someone who will paint a rosy picture of who the company is, and what they do. They will try to glaze you over with vague descriptions of their work, and talk of big earnings and advancement potential. For the most part, they tell you everything they think you want to hear.

If you are fortunate, or as some might say, unfortunate enough to be called in for a 'second interview', they will tell you they are taking you 'out in the field' to see what they do, get hands on experience, and be 'evaluated' by a staff member or trainer.

'Out in the field' can mean one of two things at this Deer Park location. Either you will go to a Home Depot location, and sit in a booth trying to get customers to sign up for home improvement estimates, or you will drive to some industrial park who knows where, get out and walk, and go to various businesses. This is where it gets interesting. You don't say you work for the marketing company, you don't say you work for NYPE, you say you're with 'Auto Glass Shop' and you're doing an 'event in the area' and are 'extending the courtesy and offering free windshield repair'. What is actually happening, is you are going in UNSOLICITED and trying to get people to REPLACE their windshield. The NYPE people will say it's no cost... But in truth, they are going to go through the customers insurance company to do the repair, that is, if they have full glass coverage.

I went through the interview process there. I went out in the field and observed the 'trainer' do the pitch, and tell lie after lie. I was presented the pay breakdown, which is a total joke. There is no salary at first, and you'll be lucky if you can make $300 a week at first. They actually have these 'trainers' claim that you can make $80k after 9 months if you work hard, have the right 'student mentality' and of course, get losts of windshields replaced.

The sad part, is that some of the employees of this company believe they will all make a ton of money in less than a year. At a legitimate business, you would be 1 in 1000 to be fast tracked and make almost 6 figures in one year. Possible? Yes. Likely? No.

You drive your own car, pay your own expenses, and basically try to scam people on behalf of the company. No self respecting business person would do what NYPE asks you to do. Hustlers and scammers might find this job amusing, but I sure don't.

If you are thinking about applying for this job, I would tell you to be cautious, and really think about what you will actually be doing.

They call it Business to Business or B2B marketing... It's unsoliticed door to door scamming.

There are no business cards, no company logos, no identifying clothing. Just invoices for repairs where you will have to get personal info, and credit card info.

I don't know how long NYPE has been in Deer Park... But I imagine they won't remain there too long. These fly by night operations are a dime a dozen.
