My account was charged $29.95 without my pernission. I called the number and was rudely told they were only a call center and not the company and a refund would be issued back to my account. It didn't happen.

I called again and got no answer and left 5 messages. I tried to find the person with the same name as my husband but no middle initial and different address and in a different town as it appeared on the bad electronic check. There's no such person.

I only write 5 to 10 checks per month, mostly to utilities, credit cards, etc. I lost my ATM card and the unusual checks written in that period were to Shaws Market and Costco. Not to blame them but just a note of interest. The check was electronically filed with my bank Eastern Bank and cashed on the same day and endorsed by Bank of America.

I have filed an affidavit with my bank, changed my account number, contacted all the automatic deposits and withdrawals associated with my old account, which I had for 20 years, and which was no easy task. Don't be fooled and think this a one time thing. My bank told me they usually start small and then they come back for something bigger next time.

It seems that Bank of America may be a common in where the money is going but still I need to know how did they get my bank account number in the first place??? Are transations made at places like Walmart or Costco or grocery stores a haven for thieves???
