Ye Ol Painters
Painters did poor job & abandoned the job - but now want full payment

Miscellaneous

I paid Ye Ol Painters approximately 2/3 of the bid proposal. Gary came over on April 30 to look at the areas we were not satisfied with. After a few minutes of looking at the work, he decided he did not feel his business would be able to satisfy our expectations and told us to forget about the remaining balance of the bill. He knew we would need more than that to get someone else to satisfy us.in June he decided he would send us a bill including 1.5% interest per month, plus paint that he had left, "saying he would have no use for it. "It is now December and we have had to hire an attorney because Gary and his attorney threatened to file a mechanic's lien around Sept 15 to our property for the unpaid bill plus interest, etc. Our attorney is trying to keep fees at a minimum, but Gary just doesn't seem to want to admit (1) that his painters did unprofessional work and (2) that we paid for more than we probably should have because it cost us more than the remaining balance of his initial bill to get things completed in a satisfactory manner. It is causing my wife a great deal of suffering because she doesn't like to have any conflict involved with something done in our home or someone that we know or love. It would be really nice if Gary and his attorney would just drop this so my wife and I could enjoy Christmas.
