So you want to be a Background Extra

I worked as a background extra for nearly 5 years when i lived in the Los Angeles area. If someone is sure this is what they want to do, then they need to sign up with Central Casting. The only jobs you will get at first are non-union ones and they pay usually $52 for 8hrs, time and half, and double time for longer hours. Once you become union, the pay is usually $108 for first 8hrs. I used a booking service, which meant while i was working on a set, they were booking me a job for the next day. Living in the desert you will not get many jobs, you need to move to the Los Angeles/Hollywood areas.
