Online return - returns

Online you say that you can return at the store to save on return shipping but when i went to they store (Atlanctic Center in Broolyn NY) they told me that they could not "balance" the return and would have to ship it back. So now on a $14 pair of shoes i have spent $7.95 on the original shipping, I guess the same amount on the return shippig, $2 on the parking lot, 1 1/2 hours of my time to try to return the shoes, and because they marked the packing slip returned i will probably have to spend even more time on the phone to get the remaining refund that is comming to me.
