Oak Plantation Resort, Sunvest, Timeshare Scam! Please don't waste your money like I did

My wife and I sat through a timeshare presentation back in May. We were told it would take 60 to no longer than 90 minutes, plus we would receive complimentary tickets to a theme park. We just like everybody else were not interested, but they wouldn't give up.

They are very aggressive and outright high pressure similar to a bad car dealership. I still have no idea how we were talked (duped) into buying this timeshare. Many things they told us ended up not being true, such as it's an investment, we could rent or sell at a later date for profit, etc...

We did agree that this would force us to take vacations and that is a good thing, plus we were told that we could trade in our week in order to vacation in other areas including cruises. This of course is not the case and we just used our week for the first time due to us not being able to travel in 2008 because of the birth of our daughter. It was a nightmare from start to finish.

We arrived and our room/unit was a complete mess, worse than any hotel we've stayed in by far. It had no toilet paper, no towels, cob webs hung from the ceiling, smelled disgusting, vacuum wasn't even used, fire alarm pulled out from the wall (I'm sure that is against code), feminine products were in the bathroom trash. They apologized and switched our room only to find the same type of dump room, but this new one had vomit in the toilet.

Now you have to understand that if this was presented at the time of sale, we wouldn't have purchased. Who would! The unit they show at presentation is very nice including up to date furniture and even flat screen televisions. On top of the horrible state of the the room that you are given, there were no flat screen televisions and the furniture is out of date. Even the coffee table was incredibly wobbly at the point where it could have hurt our children if they would of played around, which they always do. I placed my feet on the coffee table to relax and it almost fell apart, so we were forced to move it.

I just hope to help anyone out there to not fall for the razzle dazzle like we and many people did. While our stay, there were many people with similar complaints and that showed me how bad this place really was. Plus you can get a room similar to ours from $50-$60 per night anytime of the year on sites such as expedia, pricline, hotwire, etc. I am currently seeking legal aid and speaking to the general manager/owner of the resort demanding a full refund. I know that payments will stop due to dispute and the fact that they misrepresented themselves, which is clearly fraud.
